A huge time saver.you just have to remember to turn it off when you want to make single beat adjustments.

If you have duplicated regions, when you edit midi beats on the first region it will automatically update duplicated regions. In PT8 you want to use mirrored midi editing.there is a toggle that turns it on and off at the top of the interface. A company called Groove Monkee also makes really cheap beats for Superior and EZ, so you can add a lot of other starting points very cheaply. A tad time consuming, but like anything else, once you do it you get much faster and better at it.
#EZDRUMMER MIDI DROP ZONE TUTORIAL PRO#
I almost always have to edit the kick to lock up with the bass, but I use Pro Tools and editing midi is a breeze. There are so many grooves included that I've rarely had trouble finding a starting point that felt good. EZ also has a mapping for many other sets such as addictive and Steven Slate, if some of the recent low dollar deals are repeated by those companies. There's also a nice EZ video called "composing with EZdrummer" showing a songwriter using it exactly like you want to use it.ĮZplayer pro replaces the need for talented midi pad finger playingĮZ came with my Superior 2, and for overall control I would recommend going Superior 2. There's a great demonstration video and tutorial: It's extremely thorough and usable yet very easy. You can do it as complete beats or individual drum instruments. It's a midi composer that allows you to drop and drag drum parts.

It comes free with Superior but isn't too expensive if you get it by itself plus ez drummer. You can absolutely get great tracks with both and, if you get superior later, EZdrummer sounds are compatible and additive so you didn't waste your money.Ĭheck out the video demonstration for EZplayer pro.

Superior is even better and provides more control over mixing, etc with multiple channels and mic bleed control etc. I'm not sure that there will EVER be a sampled cymbal sound that will come close to the real thing when recorded properly!!ĮZ drummer is great. Excellent post ! I love EZ drummer and sold my shells because it sounds extremely good, however the cymbals just don't cut it, I kept mine and still play the Zildjians. Get a good performance, learn to anticipate how it works like you'd do with any instrument and you're there.

I wouldn't agree that you'd have to edit things so much. It may take a while to wrap your head around playing on something you're not used to, but some good results can be achieved with a little effort. The USB Alesis Control Pad is good, cheap and well thought, no unnecessary bells and whistles. Get yourself a midi interface that you can play with sticks. It's probably the widest palette of sounds under a single environement, and that can be a noticeable time-savnig factor.

Depending of the music / production style, it can make it to final release and be quite decent. Some of the kits are very interesting, and it's a very good tool for writing and demoing.
